HP Malaysia has made the HP Pavillion dv2 series available in Malaysia. A wild guess, but one look at the HP Pavillion dv2, and you will know it is design to take on the newcomer from Dell, the Dell Adamo.

According to sources, HP Pavillion dv2 is designed and developed to compete in the ultra thin notebook segments, the same category as Apple’s MacBook Air and Dell’s Adamo.

HP Pavillion dv2 will be the first to feature AMD Neo Platform which is expected to offer lots of features in a small chassis without costing you a lot.

HP Pavilion dv2 offers a 12.1-inch display, which is well above the 10-inch mark of a netbook, and it comes pre-loaded with 4GB of RAM, 320GB of storage, ATI Radeon HD 3410 graphics, but still weighs only 3.8 pounds and 0.93-inches thin.

The HP Pavillion dv2 is available in Malaysia from RM2,399. Be advised though that the price doesn’t include DVD-RW. You can get the HP Pavillion dv2 from any authorized HP reseller in Malaysia.

This is a good news indeed. HP is going to offer a 3-year warranty for its laptop battery from now on. The laptop battery which uses Sonata cell produced by Boston Power Inc, a battery producer based on Massachusetts, can afford to take full charge for 1,000 times.

The batteries will be available in 18 laptop models from Hewlett-Packard (HP), but as of now, the Sonata batteries will not be available in HP business laptops, though talks between Boston Power Inc and HP over the extended use of this battery in HP laptop line up is currently going on. The battery seems to be environment friendly as it does not use polyvinyl chloride, and thus, earning Nordic Ecolabel certificate.

As it lasts for longer time than any other lithium-ion battery, users would require less or no replacement in what would cut the waste. However, this laptop battery from HP costs $20 more than many other lithium-ion batteries as it is priced at $150. Now, let us see if the battery can live up to the expectation of laptop users.

It still unclear wheter HP Laptop Batteries with 3 year warranty is available for HP products in Malaysia yet. But knowing HP and their excellent customer service, you can be sure it won’t be long before this extended warranties reach Malaysia.

The display on HP Pavillion DV6842TX are superb! The glossy WXGA LCD of this laptop really shines when watching movies. The only downside of HP Pavillion DV6842TX display are the small maximum resolution size of 1280px x 800px.

The built in sound are truly amazing considering the small size of the speaker packed into the HP Pavillion DV6842TX. But don’t compare it to a full fledged desktop speaker. Considering the speaker function on a laptop, it is doing its job well.

The same can be said on the keyboard layout of HP Pavillion DV6842TX. The keyboard are comfortable to use to begin with. With respect to the layout, size and key feedback which work really well on this laptop. So does the touchpad on HP Pavillion DV6842TX. As other Compaq and HP laptop nowadays, the touchpad can be disabled with a touch of a button.

In the end, the HP Pavillion DV6842TX is a full featured packed Multimedia Notebook with an attractive look. Some may find the price a bit on the high side. But when you compare the list of HP Pavillion DV6842TX features, specifications and equipment, I would say that it will be worth it.
